Vinegar is a great multi-purpose product. Not only is it something we have around the house, but it is also much more environmentally and family friendly than many other products. And this one item can replace a multitude of others, also saving money and space. Vinegar is not only good for cooking, but can be used for health, beauty, lawn and garden, and cleaning as well. Here we'll deal just with the cleaning aspects of it. I'll go into the other uses in the appropriate sections later.
DRAINS: My mother-in-law told me that a great way to clean out a drain is to pour about half a cup of baking soda down it, followed by a cup of vinegar. Let that sit for about 10 minutes or so and then pour a pot of boiling water down the drain. This will not only help clean it out, but get it to smell fresher, too. Another way I've heard of vinegar cleaning clogged drains is to pour boiling white vinegar down the drain to remove the clog.
GLASS: Vinegar is great for cleaning glass and mirrors. Just mix with water or use undiluted. To clean a cloudy drinking glass, soak in warmed white vinegar for a few hours, wipe, rinse, and dry. For spotted glasses or crystal just use a vinegar soaked cloth. If you want to clean your eyeglasses just wipe each lens with one drop if vinegar.

A few good uses for vinegar in the kitchen and bathroom:
*You can remove odors and stains from jars by cleaning them with vinegar. *To clean an old lunchbox, just soak a piece of bread in vinegar and let it sit in the lunchbox overnight. *To clean your teapot, boil a mixture of water and vinegar in it and wipe away the grime. *For coffee pots jsut fill the reservoir of the coffee maker with vinegar and run it through the brewing cycle. Rinse weel with water when it's done. *To clean coffee or tea stains from china, just use a mixture of vinegar and salt. *You can disinfect your cutting board by wiping it down with full strength vinegar. *Clean out your microwave by boiling a solution of 1/4 cup vinegar and 1 cup water inside the microwave. Just wipe down with a cloth afterwards if needed. *For dishwashers, run a cup of vinegar through the entire cycle. This will reduce build up in the dishwasher and on your dishes. Should be done monthly. *In the bathroom, pour 1 cup of white vinegar in your toilet bowl and let it sit for five minutes before flushing.
And my favorite use, for all around the house:
*You can make a natural cleaning wipe for surfaces in teh kitchen, bathroom, and most anywhere else. Just soak a cloth in vinegar. It's that simple! This is jsut as effective as the chemical-based commercial product but is much cheaper and healthier for you, your kids, and our environment!
