So I sat down and watched Impact last night. Not too bad. Could have had more wrsetling. I always hate it when you get as many promos as you do matches. But I suppose they are trying to "keep up" with McMahon's product. Here is the overview, from my perspective. (Not going into most of the promos.)
The first match was The Naturals vs. The Paparazzi. The Paparazzi won, thanks to Shelley. I must admit, The Naturals are greatly improving! As for The Paparazzi, well, Johnny Devine just bugs me. We'll see if that changes in a few months, though I doubt it will. And Alex Shelley? What do I need to say about him? He's Alex Shelley! He's great.
Slightly off topic, but is it just me, or does Andy Douglas resemble Seth Skyfire of OVW?
Next Christian walked out and cut a promo. I really like him. He's brilliant! I'm so glad TNA has given him some credit and room to be what he can be. During it Rhyno walked out, disappointed with what's been going on between Christian and Sting. I liked that, too. It's nice to see Rhyno given a bit more air-time again. I also like how they've brought Christian and Rhyno's friendship out. And when they fought, great stuff! It wasn't as predictable as what you would see on 'other' companies. They didn't really advertise the friendship until recently. Needless to say, I was entertained.
Next Abyss had a match, but I turned my head and it was over. I'm not even sure who he wrestled. His matches are way too short. Even Kane and Taker had longer matches back when they were still invincible. I don't think I need to mention that Abyss won.
The third and final match was the "border" match between LAX and Daniels/Styles for the tag titles. I don't know why they called it a border match when it was a streetfight. No difference, just the name. Just another desperate attempt by LAX to look more original, when they are anything but. I may be a little bias on this one; I can't stand LAX, or Konan in particular. Konan went from being annoying in WCW to being beyond words in TNA. I can't stand him. Never could. Something I found utterly idiotic was that, I believe it was during a review of the last several weeks between the two teams, Konan said something to the effect of having 'bigger pantalones' than Daniels and Styles. That left me thinking 'What?' I may not be Latino, but I know what he said. He told them he had bigger pants. How stupid is that? And I've never really cared for Styles, either. But it was a decent match, considering the majority of the people involved in it annoy me. It was the kind of match you used to see in wrestling. In the end, however, LAX won the belts.
Also, at the beginning of the show they were doing an interview with "Brother Runt". Sorry, I just can't call Spike that. Anyways, at the end they angle the camera up and show Raven sitting on top of the trailer. I hope he gets more involved soon. I miss him when he's not around.
So all in all it was a good enough show, though there could have been at least one more match, and LAX shouldn't have been allowed to win.
