Sharmila had a bitter back pain. Coming from the land of Ayurveda, Kerala, she was well aware that undergoing an Ayurvedic treatment will cure her ailment. Yet she was reluctant to go for it, thinking of the bitter/odd taste and the pungent smell of the commonly available medicines in Ayurveda. Made of herbal plants, Ayurveda medicines are normally available in various forms such as Kashayam', `arishtam' `choornam', and `lehyam', and all of them carry a bitter, pungent taste. There are many, like Sharmila, who do not want to go for ayurvedic treatments just because they can't stand the intake of those bitter medicines. ``My chronic headache was cured by Ayurveda treatment,'' says Saleem Babu, a native of Kerala. ``It is very effective and the only part which I detested during the treatment was that smell and taste of those medicines. I used to cover my nose and gulp it down very quickly. Then I will soon resort to some sweets, in order to remove the bitter taste from my mouth,'' he says. But the Ayurvedic industry has come up with a solution to this problem. Apart from these concoctions, they have also come up with tablets for many a diseases and it is an acceptable change capable of drawing more to this system of healthcare. But there are many practitioners criticising this move stating that this is against the general practice
