[glow=black,2,600]So I decided that since I am now back to having two kids around the house all day, we might as well spend some of the day reading. A nice, quiet activity that is also much better than the cartoons most kids like these days. And I've always enjoyed reading, but having kids makes it hard to do so. So we went to the library last week, and I picked up The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. We had just bought the movie, and the kids really enjoyed it, and I haven't read the book in about 15 years. So we finished both books Wednesday and are back at the library checking out books 3 and 4, The Horse and his Boy and Prince Caspian. I had checked out Angles & Demons, though I haven't gotten nearly as far on that one. I didn't know what it was about, but I had heard a lot of buzz on it, so I had to see for myself. I am really enjoying it. I only get to read it when the kids are asleep, and I've been so tired lately that I usually follow close behind them to bed. But it's coming, slowly but surely. It's just nice to be reading again! [/glow]

Yes! Reading is my sanctuary! Nik and I try to make a trip to the library at least once a month if not more. I try to be sure to make time for it somewhere in the day. Right now I am reading, well a lot of Dr. Suess, but when it is my read time, I am enjoying Cabal by Clive Barker ... some of you may know this story as Night Breed - a movie from several years ago. I haven't seen it in years, but when I'm done reading this I would like to rent it, though I have a feeling I will be disappointed after reading the book which seems much more in depth if my memory serves me correctly.

So right now, after a failed attempt to read "The Tenth Circle" due to some bad memories it brought to surface, I am going to start reading Weave World by Clive Barker which my husband has been hounding me to check out!

Wow. So I see I've read quite a bit since I started this thread. I finished Angels & Demons awhile ago, and it was great! I hated putting it down. And the kids and I finished books 3 and 4 in The Chronicles of Narnia, and have also gotten through book 5, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Now we're on book 6, The Silver Chair. And I'm trying to read Spirit Song by Mary Summer Rain. It's a non-fiction book about a woman's experiences and friendship with a Native American Shaman woman named No Eyes. Although I like the book, and even though it's a very short one, I'm having a hard time getting through it. Most likely because I'm more anxious about finishing up the Narnia series with the kids. At any rate, a lot of reading has been going on in this house.

So, I haven't updated in here, but not too much has changed. The children and I finished the Narnia series a few months ago. Book 6, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" was good, as was the final book, "The Last Battle". The kids seemed to enjoy it as much as I did, although for me it was like oopening up a time capsule or going through a time machine and returning to my childhood. I loved these books as a kid, and still do today. I never did finish "Spirit Song". As much as I enjoyed it, I just couldn't seem to get into it for some reason. Eventually I was no longer able to re-heck it, so I had to turn it in. It's been awhile since I've started another book, so I'm about due to go look for one.

Me, other than Dr. Suess and Curious George, I am still reading Weave World - wow what a wonderful trip this is through imagination station! Seriously, Clive is usually known for his suspense/thriller type stuff, but this is a story of Seerkind (aka all the mythological beings that were said to exist once in our realm) and them trying to protect/preserve themselves by hiding in a weave/rug until it is safe to come out among the cuckoos (humans) again.

I made it through Weave World ..... THAT IS AN AWESOME STORY! Now I am reading Glass Castle/a memoir about a somewhat disfunctional/nontraditional family. I am barely into it, but so far it is pretty interesting to say the least.

I just finished reading "If Life is a Bowl of Cherries, What am I Doing in the Pits?" by Erma Bombeck. It's an older book, but very funny in a true-to-life sense.

Currently trying to work my way through 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and 'Eaters of the Dead'. Surprise! Shock! I'm no further than I was when I posted that message. My concentration is at an all time low.
