[glow=black,2,600]While anything worth having is worth waiting for, we all know how it is to anxiously await on the food in your garden to get to the harvesting point. So what are some of the things that will get to that point quicker? Well, I can tell you of one thing. This has been my first year with a garden. I planted all kinds of things, my theory always being if you're going to do it, do it all the way! I love lettuce. I often enjoy salads, and I like to put lettuce on my sandwiches. So, of course, lettuce had to be included in my garden. I only planted it about a month or so ago, but to my wonderful surprise, my lettuce is already at the point of harvesting! Nothing else in my garden is at this point yet. And I expect it to be a few months yet before they are. But last weekend I was already spending time cutting my lettuce, rinsing it, and eating it. You don't want your lettuce to get too tall, or it gets bitter. And you don't want to pull up the whole thing. Just take a pair of scissors and cut!! It will grow back several times before the growing season is over. Now I can't wait for the tomatoes to ripen!
Anybody have anything else to add for those of us who are slightly less than patient?[/glow]

Lettuce for sure - I am planting mine today - right now - if I can get off this computer! LOL I bought lots of seeds, so that when I want to I can replant more - they grow so fast! My carrots seem to be SLOW!! Hope they are coming up soon!!! Pumpkins grow fast, but you harvest them later! I better get going before it rains on me - check out my myspace site for early pics of my garden! Gotta run -
