Hope I'm not stepping on your toes, Rhiannon, but Garlic is one of the most important herbs a person can have around for medicinal purposes, IMO.
Garlic is one of the most effective anti-biotics and because it's all natural, you know there's no chemicals to screw with the rest of your body, especially the disgestive track.
Many people can't use penicilins for infections, so Garlic becomes an amazing substitute.
A clove of garlic in the ear will cure an earache. Chewing on Garlic will cure a toothache and often times ease the pain of a abcessed tooth. I am not saying that one should not see a dentist for either problem, but this will help one cope until a dentist can be seen.
Garlic can also be helpful in dealing with very high or very low blood pressure.

[glow=black,2,600]Not stepping on my toes at all, Raven. And you are 100% correct about garlic being one of the most important herbs to have around. I was wondering, were you speaking through personal experience with the healing properties of garlic? Is that what inspired this post? Raw crushed garlic is said to be the most potent as far as anti-biotic properties goes. So I threw a bunch in my grinder and gave my husband some. (Maybe force fed would have been more accurate.) He mentioned that it burned slightly. Maybe that is the wrong word for it, but you all know how strong garlic is, so I'm sure you can imagine what I'm saying. I'm not sure if this would hold true for everyone. Maybe Raven can tell us if she experienced the same thing or not. Or maybe someone else here has had some experience they could tell us about. Garlic can also be useful for soar throats, colds, flus, diabetes and even cancer. [/glow]

I have used garlic for ear infections on myself and my daughter. I didn't have cloves at the time so I placed a tablespoon of powdered garlic in a emptied out teabag and dampened it with warm water. Placed it in the ear for 20 minutes and ear ache was gone.
My husband used garlic to help with his toothache. he thought I was nuts for telling him to chew some garlic but afterwards, he was quite impressed with how effectively the garlic worked when no western pain medications had even eased the pain.

All good information ... I knew about some, but others, had no clue - like the toothache relief - boy that could come in handy. Consuming garlic is good for your skin - coming from someone that needs all the help she can get with acne!
