my mother made this for me when i was a little girl, she took a very small amount of beautiful flower print material, and cut it out into a heart shape about 6 inches high and four inches wide.
she turned it inside out and sewn it together with a sewing machine with a piece of lace in between the pieces so it stuck out when turned out, leaving a small hole at the side to stuff it. turning it to it's normal look, she stuffed it with pillow stuffing just so slightly so it wasn't hard, but very soft and squishy. then she hand sewn the side together.
she then took a little strip of the same material, and sewn it on the front in a little pocket, with the top open.
when ever i lost a tooth i would place it in the pouch on this heart shaped pillow, and left it on the side of my pillow. when i was asleep, she would fill it with a little glitter and some money, and take the tooth to add to my hidden collection.
i always thought that the special pillow was something the tooth fairy would always see and be sure to leave me a treat for my tooth. even if i lost the tooth i knew she would see the pillow and know i had lost a tooth a still leave me my treat. i would keep it in my underwear drawer when it wasn't needed so i always knew where it was.
i still have the pillow to this day with a little bit of glitter still in the pouch.
i plan on making these for my little boys when they lose their teeth in different patterns and materials that will suit them no matter what age they are, with their names on the front to make it even more special.
