after strenuous searching, in all the stores in town and on line, i came up with nothing. i was looking for a sticker album since i still have mine from when i was little and my kids love looking at the fun stickers in it. they now want their own. but go figure no one makes them anymore.
so i decided to make my own, and i am thinking about selling them on ebay they are so cute!
go to your local craft store or Wal-Mart (which is where i got my supplies) and you will need for the basic part of this:
*a small book, the ones i got have a neon foam cover on them and are filled with heavy duty blank white pages. and are spiral spined so they are easy to keep open for the kids while they add their stickers. this was about $5.00.
*3D foam letters and decorations (these are in all shapes, colors, and some are self sticky so you can just peel the back off and place. these are the best cause they never come off! if it's not self sticky you will need to use super glue cause regular glue will not stick for very long. a bag of these costs about a dollar to two dollars each. depending on the size and the kind you get.
*regular alphabet stickers to decorate the pages with. i get different kinds of styles and they are more unique this way.
*crayons, markers, and other decorative items to decorate the empty pages.
Now you will take the foam letters and write the child's name on the front, i used only the first name, and the last initial. then i decorated the outside only of the covers both front and back with the cute foam decorations. my first son's name is orion star, so i had different stars all over his. my second son's name is hunter and he loves animals so i decorated his with little animals of all kinds.
on the inside i wrote with the stickers on the first page, (since these were for a birthday gift) happy third b-day, love mom.
and they now know when and where they got it for ever, which to me makes it more special for when they are older and showing their kids.
i used the rest of the sticker letters to write on a few of the pages headers of the kind of stickers in that section. like: super heroes, characters, funny, gross, special, glitter, and so on.
so they have a place for the stickers and it's more cute than a bunch of pages that are just filled with random stickers. you can then decorate the edges of the rest of the pages to the theme in that section or just to decorate them and make the pages stand out more. you want to leave the middle blank for the stickers to go there, so the decorations are not taking away from the stickers.
these are so special, and with all the stickers out there, it's so easy to find special stickers that the kids want to put in their books. i have even gotten the self laminate plastic to put on the completed pages to preserve the stickers when the page is done. and the kids don't lose or damage the stickers there.
be creative with this, it's so much fun and relatively cheap if you want it to be. but the most important thing is it's special!
